Matt Giraud, also known as, Matthew Scott Giraud was born on May 11th, 1985 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Besides being a singer he is also an aspiring piano player and a finalist on the eighth season of the most popular reality television series, American Idol. Matt graduated from the Lincoln High School in 2003. He began his career by playing at clubs out in Kalamazoo, where he also graduated from Western Michigan University.
This young singer auditioned for the American Idol season 8 in Louisville, Kentucky. His performance mesmerized the judges so much that they recognized him as a Judges favorite in Hollywood with Randy Jackson naming him among his "top 5" early favorites. Matt sang "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5 during the Hollywood week, along with a group called White Chocolate. Initially he was voted out and did not make it to the finals. But the judges used their power and brought back their favorite contestant.
