Got Her 1st Nomination at the Age of : 43

Nominated As : Best Supporting Actress for Mrs. Miller, a pestered mother in "Doubt"

Most Popular As : Eva May, the dishonored mother in "Antwone Fisher" (2002)

Her Reaction on 1st nomination : "I couldn't think of a better role to have gotten it for because it's my kind of role. I like black characters who are humanized, black women who are atypical, more subtle in their approach. This would be the role that I would want to be remembered for".

The Character : Viola plays Mrs. Miller in "Doubt," who is a woman who must choose between two unendurable outcomes for her young son.
