2008–present: Discipline
In July 2007, Jackson changed labels and signed a record contract with Island Records. Jackson's tenth studio album, Discipline, was released in February 2008, by the Island Def Jam Music Group, debuting on the Billboard 200 at number one. Jackson and Jermaine Dupri severed as executive producers, long-term collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis did not contribute, and Discipline was the first album on which Jackson did not co-write any of the material since 1984's Dream Street. Paul Grein of Yahoo! Music observed that with six number one studio albums, Jackson had "surpasse[d] her brother Michael Jackson, who has amassed five [number one] albums." In an interview with Larry King of CNN, Jackson commented, "Discipline. It's the title track on the album ...
