Ever wondered why celeb faux pas are the most talked about news pieces? Because they have juice. A taste of rebelliousness. A taste of abnormality. People love everything that takes a path away from normal. The moral police, though, stand up and raise their hands in protest. This is what happened this year in the American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on the 22nd of this month. This Sunday night brought those moments which are still being talked about and being googled and youtubed and twittered, and of course blogged. Let us visit those moments too in this blog!

Faux Pas one is the fall. Jennifer Lopez while performing on stage had an almost terrible accident. Louboutins, the Pop diva’s new single, was being performed with a number of dancers and acts. During one of these acts, J-Lo lost her balance after jumping from the top of the human-stairs. That must been embarrasing huh?! But she didn’t show it. She went on performing the routine after that. Later, while talking to the press, she said “that was part of the choreography”. Really? That is difficult to believe!
This piece of news has got the maximum “view count” on youtube. More than 750,000 have viewed her 13 second fall video on youtube. Also, there are many blogs that have given a link to the whole act and it was disabled because of copyright claims by Dick Clark Productions, the AMA producers.

The second faux pas has pulled more than 6,500 results from googlenews. Type ‘Adam Lambert’ in a few days from today and he might just cross the 7 figure search result that google gives in his name. Because, this “happily gay guy” believes in the “freedom of expression and artistic integrity”. His new single, “For Your Entertainment” says so and so does he in his performance at the AMA. His performance included quite some vulgar moments that might have been “funny” for the nondescripts, “artistic freedom and expression” for Lambert and his fans, but “indecent or profane material” for the Federal Communications Commission. Reuters reported that ABC television received over 1,500 complaints for this “sexually-charged performance”. Michael Slezak from the Entertainment Weekly well describes this performance as “a carefully planned stab at dominating the post-AMA blogosphere/water-cooler discussion.”
In conclusion to this faux pas, a question might arise, did Lambert wow the people or did he initiate a tow for himself? That will depend on FCC, if they really will fine the channel and him or not.

Our last faux pas for AMA, 2009, is a now normal one. ‘Now normal’, because it seems like in every awards show there is always one or some of the celebs that go the “malfunction” way with her or their wardrobe. But, surprisingly, it is always an eyebrow raiser. This time, this crime was committed by Kate Hudson. Her plunging neckline was more than just plunging, more like winging actually! When she came on stage to announce the Black Eyed Peas performance next, with Nicole Kidman, her silver “glitzy” dress made heads turn and mobile phones active.
It is high time that Kate Hudson and all wardrobe malfunctioners to understand that these ceremonies might not be the best place for skin shows.

Faux pas over. But is that all?
Is it not that award ceremonies are about awards and winners and great performances? Why then do these social blunders get so much footage?
The reality is that they get footage. People watch them. Read them and talk about them. And later forget about them! That’s it.

Nicole Kidman appeared upset while admitting the fact that she very strongly feels Hollywood plays an important role in contributing to violence against women. Kidman also added that in most films women are portrayed as weak sex objects.

The Oscar winning actress said she is dead againt such roles and shows no interest in playing any of them. Kidman also added that she finds such roles extremely demeaning but Hollywood has given extra effort to give a solution to and bring down violence on women.

Kidman took the stand before a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee that is regarding legislation to address violence against women. The committee is expected to take up this issue overseas through means of humanitarian relief. Grants will also be provided to those organization working towards eradicating such problem from the society.

When Kidman was asked by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., whether Hollywood has influenced the society or “played a bad role” in this issue, the actress replied with a diplomatic “probably”. Followed by this she quickly added that she herself doesn’t justifying her stand point.

“I can’t be responsible for all of Hollywood but I can certainly be responsible for my own career”, said Kidman.

Kidman represented a  the U.N. Development Fund for Women’s (known as UNIFEM) goodwill ambassador in front of the committee. She was promoting  the International Violence Against Women Act.

“In the real world, the laws go unenforced and impunity is the norm”, she added.

Nicole Kidman denied that she was embarrassed playing her role in the epic movie of Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Australia’. She also denied all such reports where she allegedly claimed that she fled her homeland Australia out of fear of film critics who would have to say certain things about the country’s costliest film.

Britain’s Daily Mail had quoted Nicole last week where she had said in an interview with a Sydney radio station that she ’squirmed in her seat’, couldn’t ‘connect emotionally at all with it’, and ‘ran’ from the expected bad reviews.

To this Nicole’s Sydey based publicist turned the gun at British Daily Mail saying that all this was blown out of proportion by the daily and was done with a bad intent to malign Nicole. Kidman’s Sydney-based publicis also felt that the Daily Mail report simply misquoted and misrepresented what the 41-year-old actor had said.

“It’s quite ridiculous for anyone to believe the reports if they listened to the actual interview,” the spokeswoman told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. “It’s hard to believe some of the world’s media have fallen for it.”

Kidman had also the radio station that she felt embarrassed every time she saw herself on screen. She had also explained that she felt uncomfortable because of the level of adulation she received from her fans and movie lovers. The reason for her being uncomfortable at the Sydney premiere was because of the adulation and also because she always blushed to see herself on screen. Kidman had also added in her interview that she always failed to connect with all her finished projects and work.

The 165-minute marathon starring Kidman and compatriot Hugh Jackman is unlikely to feature in the Oscar awards or stay in cinemas beyond the end of the month. The Australian Government has been alleged with too much help and sanction for the film. The Aussie Government is severely criticised for funding around a quarter of the film’s $150-million budget and gearing a tourism promotion campaign around a film that has been termed a flop.

Nicole Kidman has sparked off rumours in her native city of Sydney, Australia. The actress angered locals because she moored her million dollar yacht outside an exclusive apartment block which she no longer owns. The locals lodged complaints against Kidman.

Nicole Kidman had already moved out of her exclusive harbourside home nearly a year ago. But her £2.1 million yacht has remained in the nearby marina. There are laws that say that the residents only can moor their boats in the marina vicinity. The locals have accused the government of turning partial and blind eye to the breach of law by Kidman.

A spokesperson for Kidman told the Sydney Morning Herald that the yacht had been left in the marina because the star had planned on buying another property on site, which did not happen. The spokesperson said that Kidman was not being spared by the law. The Kidman representative also said that the yacht would be removed from the spot next week.

Wally Paterson, an advisor to the owners’ corporation said he was “…absolutely adamant that everyone gets treated equally no matter who or what they are”. Residents of the Pier 6/7 block in Walsh Bay, Sydney, are reportedly angry that Kidman, who recently sold her apartment there, has been allowed to keep her luxury boat, the Hokulani, tied up outside. Locals started campaigning against government’s inaction. They insisted that the vessel be removed immediately. They also alleged that the estate’s committee has been overly linient on Kidman because of her star status.

Nicole’s spokesperson denied all such preferential treatment allegations : the governing committee “would never do anything just because it’s her”.

Hugh Jackman, the famous Australian actor  has been named as “the Sexiest Man Alive”. The star was ranked at the top in the  People magazine’s annual list of “the most attractive guys in the world”. With his unforgettable performances in several movies like  X-Men, The Prestige and Scoop,  Jackman has left female hearts pounding faster.

“He’s a triple threat – a star who can sing, dance and wield a weapon. At 6ft 2in, all scruff and biceps, Jackman, 40, looms large in the epic Australia and left people stammering, ‘Oh. my… God!’ according to co-star Nicole Kidman”, the magazine wrote while explaining why they elected  Jackman as the Sexiest Man Alive.

Close behind Hugh, the second place was secured by the Quantum of Solace actor Daniel Craig. He rose to fame with his most impressive acting in the film as British spy James Bond.  His muscular body and striking blue eyes left all his female fans awestruck.

The third position was given to  the star of hit US TV show Mad Men, Jon Hamm, while  Zac Efron, High School Musical heartthrob and   Robert Buckley, the  Lipstick Jungle hunk came fourth and fifth respectively.

The other personalities to have ranked in the list were Soccer player David Beckham, Oscar-winner Javier Bardem, Twilight star Robert Pattinson, former Dawson’s Creek actor Joshua Jackson and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.

The traffic came to a halt while thousands of fans waited for hours in the rain in central Sydney. The enthralled crowd cheered after a long wait while Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman walked the red carpet for the world premiere of “Australia”.

The 3,000 invited guests walked down the carpet  while George Street in Sydney’s CBD was closed for the premiere of one of the most predicted local films ever.  Nicole was seen strolling gracefully with her co-stars like Hugh Jackman, Bryan Brown, David Wenham, 13-year-old Brandon Walters, Jack Thompson, director Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin.

Kidman mention in a candid conversation that Australia may be her final film as she would now like to concentrates on motherhood. “I’m in a place in my life where I have had some great opportunities. I may just choose to have some more children”, Kidman said.

Nicole Kidman, the popular Hollywood actress, said that she is not very sure of her future career as an actor. She said there are several other things she wanted to do, one of which is possibly having more children.

Kidman, who is 41 now, has three children – a four-month-old daughter, Sunday Rose, with Keith Urban, her country singer husband, and two children, whom she adopted during her first marriage with actor Tom Cruise.

The Oscar-winning actress said, “In terms of my future as an actor and stuff, I don’t know” in a news conference. She also added “I am in a place in my life where … I’ve had some great opportunities and I may just choose to have some more children. I’ve no idea what is in my future but I am very at peace with where I want to be. There are many things I want to do besides act”.

Nicole Kidman, along with acting, with also produce this film, which has been named as “The  Danish Girl”. The plot is based on the true story of Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener.  Einar (played by  Kidman), whose marriage takes a bitter turn after she meets the female model that Greta (played by Theron) whom  Einar was about to paint. After the portrait becomes popular in Copenhagen in 1920, Greta asks her husband to adopt Einar. Something that had began as a harmless game finally extended Einer to a transfiguration and landmark 1931 operation that shocked the world and threatened their love.

The film will be directed by Anand Tucker. Preproduction work has already begun.

Contrary to earlier rumors that Tom Cruise had sent a roomful of flowers to his ex-wife it is now being widely reported that the star along with his family had actually sent Nicole a present to congratulate the baby’s birth.

Cruise along with present wife Katie Holmes and his adopted kids Bella and Connor had sent a huge baby basket to the new mother and child. The gift includes baby products like Giraffe baby blankets, some necessary items for the newborn and the high end accessories from the Hermes line. This is Kidman’s first biological child after going through a very painful miscarriage during her first marriage. Nicole and Tom, once the star couple and the envy of many in Hollywood ended their marriage in the year 2001. Tom started dating Katie Holmes in the year 2005 and later married her. He now has a biological child Suri with her.

It’s raining gifts for the new mother of Sunday Rose. Nicole Kidman has just got a roomful of flowers from ex-husband Tom Cruise. The girl was born to the couple on Monday morning. Keith and Nicole chose to have their first child in Nashville, Tennessee which is there hometown. According to the UK Daily Mirror the new mother has had a lot of well wishers sending her flowers. Among them Tom Cruise was one of the first persons to get in touch and ask for news of the baby and the mother.

Nicole and ex-husband Tom Cruise had separated in the year 2001 after almost a decade of marriage. Considered to be a star couple when they were together Nicole had later said in her interviews to some magazines that she was devastated after the split and had suffered a miscarriage around the same time. She had also gone through an ectopic pregnancy in the early years of marriage. Both Kidman and Cruise have found love again with different partners.
