Tom Cruise, it has been said, is furious after finding out that his wife Katie Holmes has taken up her old habit of smoking once again.

The “Valkyrie” actor, who has a 2-year-old daughter Suri with Holmes, is trying to force Holmes to quit smoking. According to a source “Tom leads a very disciplined life and happily encourages Katie to follow Scientology and purification detoxes. He is livid she’s started smoking again and is doing everything he can to put pressure on her to quit what he calls a filthy habit.”

Apart from cigarettes, Katie Holmes has another addiction. When not working, she, and her star husband relax by watching movies in their Beverly Hills mansion. And the two can’t seem to have enough of movies. While relaxing, they watch not one, but three films in a row on a big screen in their home. “I love to watch movies on the big screen,” says Holmes, adding “I love action movies. I love Spielberg movies, I love my husband’s movies, Ang Lee’s movies. I actually just saw State of Play, and I thought that was a really great movie, a great Russell Crowe movie. I love dramas. I love musicals.” And not just the couple, it seems that their tiny daughter also has an interest in movies. Her actress mother said “She loves Sleeping Beauty and all the Disney movies.”

Actress Katie Holmes surprised her fans with her  hair extensions. She has again ostracized her trademark bob look to get back to her old wavy locks. Katie Holmes new haircut brings back the images of her time as Joey Potter on the teen drama Dawson’s Creek from 1998 to 2003.

Holmes was with her husband, actor Tom Cruise,  at the Japanese premiere of Valkyrie, Cruise’s latest film. She dazzled the red carpet in a purple and red dress, striking poses with her husband. Just three days before arriving in Tokyo,  Katie Holmes was seen sporting her signature short hair, which she further cropped during her stay.

How does Katie’s hair grow at such a rapid rate? Or is it hair weaving? That’s really an unbelievable makeover for the actress. Holme’s new long hairstyle has set the pulse of her fans race faster. The short cropped haircut was adopted by the Batman Begin’s actress about a year ago and it was a dramatic move for her.

Katie Holmes has appeared really thin in her recent appearances. The star however says her weight loss is because of her hectic work schedule. The 30-year-old actress had recently starred in a Broadway production of ‘All My Sons’.

Katie Holmes claims that she has to go through long and drilling hours of work. She has also said that a fast metabolism is also responsible for her slim shape.

Katie and her husband, actor, Tom Cruise had said that it was highly possible to regulate career and family on a smooth surface. Katie had said that she found it OK to balance her professional and personal life. The couple however has a tot(daughter), Suri Cruise, to take care of.

Katie said of her Broadway stint : “My metabolism was in full gear the whole time. I lose weight fast when I’m working so hard. It doesn’t matter how much I eat, I just get thin. It’s not the worst problem in the world to have though is it?”

She also added: “I happen to be a woman who believes she can have it all. But, we women can do an awful lot if we put our minds to it. And not only that, we can have fun doing it! Even when it’s crazy – which is pretty much most of the time – it’s fun. At least, that’s been my experience.”

Katie is known to love her busy life but it sure has taken her time to adjust to the pressures of fame and motherhood.

Katie however went on to explain her situation: “I’m not sure I always felt that way. I guess I’ve had some coaxing along the way. But I definitely feel that way now. It’s a good combination for me and Tom – work and family, a healthy balance.”

Tom Cruise sure is a doting father. He loves all his children more than anything else in this world. Suri Cruise being his diamond daughter gets maximum attention from Tom. Tom in a recent interview with The Sun has said that he is a responsible parent. He has thanked Katie Holmes for his happiness. Tom has always been very vocal about his marriage and fatherhood.
In a typical Tom Cruise style, Tom talked about his desire: “I want ten children. I love kids. I feel really fortunate to have the teenagers and a two and a half-year-old. It’s a great dynamic.” Tom said that he always made it sure that he spent the maximum time with his family and especially his kids because he knew since he was 12 what it felt to live a life without a father figure.

It seems like Tom wants to join the competition with Brad and Angelina. The latter have a family comprising of six children. Tom in his interview with The Sun entirely talked about Suri. He said in amazement: “She’s so charming, she’s so beautiful, she’s just great.” Tom who had adopted two children with ex-wife, Nicole Kidman said tha this divorce with Nicole did not hamper his relationship with his kids. He insisted: “Nic and I are very committed and successful in sharing the parenting.”

Tom,46,who is known as a very hard-working actor, is often seen going out and spending time with Suri and Katie. And he tries to make sure he spends as much time as possible with his kids. He explained why he did so in spite of his tight schedules. “I’m a great parent. I want to be with my kids, and they get to do all the stuff that I wanted to do when I was growing up. My own father wasn’t there much for me and I want to be a different dad to my kids. My family is the most important thing in my life.” He said how as a 12 year old he learnt about life the hard way with his father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III splitting from his mother Mary at that time. Tom shares his life equally with Isabella, now 16, and 13-year-old Connor, his adopted kids with Nicole.

Cruise talked about his happy married life. He also talked about his romantic pursuits with Katie. He said he was very fortunate to have Katie as wife as they both share the same interests in life. “She’s a very strong, gracious woman, and a great comedian. “I like doing romantic things, such as bringing flowers and surprising her with things. I love candlelit evenings with nice music.,” was what Cruise said about Katie. Asked how Tom as a forty year old kept up with such a young wife. Tom explained how he managed the age gap: “If I’m worried about anything, it’s if she can keep up with me. I’m very active.”

“TomKat” in the news. This time Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have decided to shift their base to New York. Their move to New York was evident when Tom started house hunting after falling for Big Apple big time. After Katie’s Broadway hit shows this was an obvious move. The couple already own an apartment in the city’s trendy East Village. The apartment was allegedly bought after Holme’s Broadway act in the play “All My Sons” in June.

TomKat’s new neighbours have already revealed about the building details and the couple’s buying of lofts in a 12-story building just south of 14th street in Manhattan. The NY Post got all the details from the alleged TomKat’s neighbour. The neighbor said: “Tom and Katie now keep five units in the building. They turned one into Suri’s playroom. One they use for a gym, and two apartments are for staff.”

Tom was originally from New York and so staying permanently in New York was a valid one. The couple is making plans to make NY their permanent residence. Cruise presently lives with his family in Hollywood. He had splashed on a lavish mansion which was approximately $35million. He has several other residential plots in and around Hollywood. Tom recently appeared on an US talk show where he talked about how much he loved New York. When asked about his plans to leave Hollywood for NY he smiled and said : “We really love it here.” He also said, “…The people are so warm and friendly.”

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri has been named the World’s Most Powerful toddler. A new poll carried out by Forbes magazine has named two-year-old Suri as the most powerful. This means Tom Cruise’ adoring daughter is well ahead of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s brood of kids. The poll was done in order to search for the most influential child under the age of five.

Others who featured in the survey include David Banda, Madonna’s adopted kid with estranged husband Guy Ritchie, Victoria and David Beckham’s youngest son Cruz, and Britney Spears’ three year old son Sean Preston with ex Kevin Federline.

Katie Holmes has been busy celebrating her second year of marriage with husband Tom Cruise. She was seen quickly jetting home to Los Angeles after a recent performance in New York so that she could be with her husband and daughter who spreads her newly found happiness.

Holmes took off to the west coast after Sunday’s (16Nov08) matinee performance of her hit Broadway play – ‘All My Sons’.

Tom and Katie reportedly spent a quiet evening at their L.A. home on Monday (17Nov08) before the actress had to rush back for her regular Tuesday show.

Cruise and Holmes married on 18 November 2006 in a star-studded ceremony in Italy to the dismay of critics, skeptical their relationship was a mere publicity stunt. Critics had even presumed that their relationship would not go further and surely they would not ever be together making a family. But they had proven all of them wrong by staying together and even raising their Suri and only time will witness the couple’s growth as proud parents.

In an interview last year (07), Cruise talked about the lavish wedding, “As big as it was from the outside, it was a very personal experience and something obviously I’ll never forget.”

The pair was reportedly joined by their two-year-old daughter, Suri, and Cruise’s adopted children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman – Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13 to mark the event.

Until we receive any other speculations the valid Forbes list will definitely create a furore with Suri creating ripples all over.

And you thought he would follow her to Broadway too ? Not really says a source close to Tom Cruise. Just because his wife is working on Broadway does not mean that he has to do the same. One of the most powerful and bankable celebrities in the circuit it apparently seems that Tom is too busy on other ventures to even think of being on stage to perform.

Katie Holmes is set to make her Broadway debut in a revival of Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons”. However there is not much good news for the actor since her presence does not seem to have generated much interest among the audiences as per expectations. Her debut on stage is also being compared to that of her husband’s ex-wife Nicole Kidman who had done exceptionally well with her first appearance in The Blue Room. However advance sales for All My Sons have been disappointing and its still to be seen if it generates the response that it is supposed to in the weeks to come.

Following the path set by most stars who make the transition effortlessly from the screen to the stage Katie is in for quite a rollercoaster ride while making her first foray on stage. She seems to be moving to more challenging work after making a splash with the well received Dawson’s Creek some years ago.

After a slew of forgettable roles her only claim to fame was the highly publicized courtship and marriage to Tom Cruise. With not much brilliant work under her belt Katie has to deliver along with actors like John Lithgow, Patrick Wilson and Dianne Wiest. Her last effort was the box office dud Mad Money. The playwright of such ground-breaking plays such as Death of a Salesman, All My Sons was first performed in the year 1947 and had won both the author as well as the director Tony awards. Miller bases his play on the true story of a businessman who knowingly sells the government defective plane parts in the Second World War. This incident ruins his life as the truth finally comes out into the open when his business partner’s daughter (to be played by Katie Holmes) marries his son. The play was adapted to a feature film in the year 1948 and was again performed in Broadway in 1987. Hope the reprisal this time is as interesting as the star cast.
