Homecoming Queen Dakota Fanning posing with the Homecoming King
At the age of 15, Dakota Fanning is a normal kid. This Charlotte’s Web actress works in movies and when her shooting is over, she’s goes back home to Los Angeles and lives an absolutely ordinary life. While actors at and around her age study at home with tutors coming to them, Fanning prefers going to school. And that is not all. She is also part of the cheer-leading team.
She studies in the Campbell Hall Episcopal High School which is situated in North Hollywood. This high school student is pretty popular in the school too, naturally. So, it might not be surprising for all, that she was named the “Homecoming Queen” this year on friday, the 30th Oct ‘09.
The Viking cheer leader seemed to have a great time performing the cheerleading routine, sources say. When she won the Homecoming award she was elated. It’s really amazing to see someone as famous as she is is having a normal and great teenage life like this.
Dakota is not only in the Pom-Pom brigade, she is active in many other extracurricular activities like horse riding and playing the piano. She started her career in acting from the age of 5 with a Tide commercial. 10 years of a successful career which includes working with some of the greats in the film industry like Mike Myers and Julia Roberts and also leading a normal life, this is extraordinary and also, many might agree, the most coveted life any celeb would love to have. What do you say?
Pretty Woman Eating Chapati with Hands
by anamus on Sep.21, 2009, under acting, movies, roles, sightings, upcoming
The Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts, is in India, and she simply loves doing it all like the Indians. Roberts ate aloo-gobi, matar-paneer and chapati with her hands and simply amazed all her Indian fans. Dressed in a black slawar paired with a purple kurta, which the Hollywood actress accessorized with rudraksha beads, she finished her first day shoot in Pataudi on Sunday for a Hollywood film.
Roberts is more dedicated than one in India can possibly expect her to be. She went on giving retakes for the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” at Ashram Hari Mandir. The mercury was rising high but the top rated actress would not even get up from her seat until director Ryan Murphy was satisfied. Roberts remained grounded on her chair with a hand fan, while the rising heat baffled many of the crew members.
There was once scene filmed that showed Julia eating rice, chapati, aloo-gobi and mater-paneer the Indian way – with her bare hands. The Oscar winning actress enjoyed every bit of the film.
Roberts reached New Delhi on Thursday, from where she drove about 40 km to reach Haryana directly. The actress has been accompanied to India by her four and half year old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, two year old son Henry and their nannies. Roberts will be shooting for the Indian sequences with Billy Crudup, Javier Bardem and Richard Jenkins.
“Eat, Love, Pray”, is based on author Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoirs, where Roberts plays the role of Gilbert who travels to Italy, India and Indonesia in search of peace.
‘Duplicity’ ranks No. 3 at Box Office
by doyeeta on Mar.24, 2009, under movies, rankings
Among the three movies released during the weekend, Nicolas Cage’s ‘Knowing’ left Julia Roberts-Clive Owen starrer ‘Duplicity’ behind. Reviews had appreciated ‘Duplicity’, calling it witty with a twisted plot, and a treat for the intelligent audience. Julia Roberts, it was said, has made a comeback after being a mother in 2004. Thus, its box office expectations were high. Surprisingly, ‘Knowing’ took the first position with a total turnover of $24.8 million. The comedy ‘I Love You, Man’ came second with $18 million, and ‘Duplicity’ ranked third earning $14.4 million in ticket sales.
‘Knowing’, a Summit Entertainment production, is a supernatural thriller in which Nicolas Cage stars as a professor of astrophysics who breaks ancient codes to prevent catastrophes. The victory of ‘Knowing’ at box office is yet another boost for Summit Entertainment after its superhit ‘Twilight’ that was released last year and made a profit of $69 million. The studio’s president of domestic distribution, Richie Fay gave reasons for the back to back successes. He said “We’ve got great creative talent at the studio, veterans on the marketing side and I’ve got a few years under my belt on the distribution side.”
The second box office hit this weekend ‘I Love You, Man’ is a “bromantic” comedy starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. Though a better performance was expected of this film, it hasn’t fared all that bad by taking second place. In fact, like ‘Knowing’, this too has attracted an equal number of male and female auidience.
So, where does the pretty woman stand after her comeback? At No. 3. Does she have reasons to worry? According to Roberts, ‘Duplicity’ is not her comeback moment. Also, the crowd is far from dying out in the subsequent weeks. Julia Roberts’ fans can keep their hopes up for ‘Duplicity’. Her comeback, perhaps, will be with her next film ‘The Friday Night Knitting Club’. Folks, you can keep your hopes intact.
Corporate corruption surfaces through sophisticated ‘Duplicity’
by doyeeta on Mar.21, 2009, under Entertainment, acting, movies
After the Oscar nominated ‘Michael Clayton’, writer/director Tony Gilroy makes a comeback with his second feature film ‘Duplicity’. It has all the reasons to earn a high rating- a very tricky plot (next to the French Film ‘Tell No One’ screened last summer), high-tech office equipment, exotic locales and powerhouse performances by star pair Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. Gilroy does a superb job of probing and revealing corporate corruption through a romantic thriller focused at the intelligent audience.
Opening scenes, set in Dubai, creates a sensual atmosphere by making Ray Koval (Clive Owen) go to bed with Claire Stenwick (Julia Roberts), and the film retains its sexy charm all through. When, five years later, Claire meets Ray, she refuses to recognize him. The initial witty repartee between the two actors reverberates throughout the course of the film as they keep meeting at different times and in different places. From being the former MI6 agent, and the ex-CIA operative, Ray and Claire assume their roles as spies for rival companies Burkett & Randle and Omnikrom. It is obviously more luicrative than their prior government jobs. The spy game begins with Omnikrom procuring a handwritten letter that informs B&R’s future plans. It is to announce the launch of a product that will guarantees huge profits. However, the information is useless to Omnikrom and the two spies without the knowledge of the details of the product. What follows is a deeper game with a series of deceptions that Ray and Claire practise on each other to snatch vital information.
Thoroughly intellugent, competent, and tough, Claire is hard to put down. Ray, with his smart thinking and quick moves, is a perfect match to Claire’s intellectual genius. The film attains a high degree of thrill as the two engage in mischief set in a coporate context. Oscar winner Julia Robert live up to her role and Clive Owen represents the debonair Ray with geat skill. Their online chemistry is excellent and the verbal play between Ray and Claire instantly captures the attention of the audience. The interplay between romance and corporate rivalry becomes intense with the continuous shuffling of the screenplay. Romance forms a parralel theme while the film analyzes the corporate world, the portrayal of which questions Ray and Claire’s trust on each other.
Gorgeous costumes, and glamorous locales, together with Robert Elswit’s camerawork, adds glitter to this smart romantic thriller. ‘Duplicity’ has surely increased the audience’s expectations of Gilroy.
Julia Roberts urges ban on celebrity child photos

Julia Roberts has requested US lawmakers to ban paparazzi on celebrity kids. The Hollywood actress wants the celebrity gossip mongers to leave alone the kids of celebs. She feels that the entire practice was ‘bloodthirsty’. She could not term a better word for the hungry photo taking madness shown by paparazzi.
Few weeks back Julia had blasted a Cameraman and foulmouthed him for taking pictures and stalking. Julia is also angry with the bizarre fact that the media makes it a point to critique and compare famous offspring. Julia is very worried with all these and does not find all these proper. She has also told earlier that she wanted her kids to breathe easily and have as normal a life as was possible, but the mere paparazzi made her dreams fall short.
Julia Roberts is regarded as a very protective mother. She said : “I don’t know what is going on with this crazy, bloodthirsty child hunt. Honestly, I think it should be against the law to take a picture of a celebrity’s child. And all the, ‘Who’s got the cutest baby?’ “I had to reinstate my faith in people when, one night, I was on the computer, and I ended up stumbling upon some pictures I had never seen of my children playing at a park. What upset me was all these comments like, ‘One is cute; that other one sure is ugly.’ Even commenting nicely, what are you doing critiquing a child? It sickened me. Fortunately, it’s a rare occurrence for us”.
Julia has done a great thing by coming up with the novel idea of limiting the media to some extent in order to bring a bit of normalcy. Julia insists that the ban was outmost necessary. She is the sole actress who has come out with the fact and even went further to urge the lawmakers to impose certain guidelines or a total ban on the acts.

Julia has accused the photographer of stalking. Her actions were caught on camera. Julia defended herself. The 41 year old actress said she had to defend her children as a caring mother from a 24 hour paparazzi irritation.
