Johnny Depp: the "Sexiest Man Alive"

Johnny Depp has been irresistible, not only for his fans but also for the People Magazine, it seems. The 46 year old actor is People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for the second time.

Upsetting quite a large number of teenage beauties, Depp overtook the Twilight hunk Rob Pattinson to win the People magazine’s sought after title. Like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Richard Gere, the other double winners of the coveted endorsement, Depp had bagged the title earlier in 2003.

The senior editor at People, Kate Coyne, explained the reason behind choosing Depp for the title on CBS’ Early Show Wednesday by adding, “Johnny Depp was someone who was sexy 10 years ago. He’ll be sexy 10 years from now. He appeals to multiple generations of women — and for many different reasons to different kinds of women”.

People magazine also described the flamboyantly adventurous “Pirates of the Caribbean” star as “the king of cool with the killer cheekbones”. The 46 year old Depp, succeeded the 2008 winner Hugh Jackman this year.

Depp was seen ruling the screen with roles like 1930s gangster John Dillinger in “Public Enemies” and the murderous London barber “Sweeney Todd” in the recent past. In his forthcoming film, “Alice in Wonderland”, the actor will be seen in the role of the Mad Hatter. The film, directed by Tim Burton, is due for release in March 2010.

An overwhelmed Coyne said, “He’s sort of everything. He’s a guy’s guy, kind of a bad boy, he’s a respected artist and actor. You know, he’s got a little bit of everything”.

The previous winners of People’s sexiest man alive title include Matt Damon (2007), Matthew McConaughey (2005), Jude Law (2004) and Ben Affleck (2002).

Hugh Jackman went up to quite an extent to stop an unknown person’s phone ringing while he was on the stage. The Australian actor  stopped a Broadway show to ask a theatergoer to put the phone on silent mode. This must have been a lesson for all and we can just say that from now on theatergoers won’t forget to turn their cell phone off.

“You want to get that?”, said Jackman, who was interrupted while performing a tense moment from “A Steady Rain”. With Daniel Craig starring opposite to Jackman the show will open on Tuesday.

As the phone rang and continued ringing Jackman said, “Grab your phone, it doesn’t matter. Come on, just turn it off … we can wait. Just get the phone”. And then the handsome actor added, “Don’t be embarrassed. Just grab it”.

A video of the incident posted on YouTube showed that none of the audience members tried to reach for the phone to avoid getting embarrassed. The phone went ringing, as Jackman pointed sharp words at the audience, and after a while it stopped.

Besides the 40 year old Jackman and 41 year old Craig the play will also star high profile actors like Geoffrey Rush, Catherine Zeta Jones, Sienna Miller, and Jude Law.

All you girls there, there is a very exciting news for you all! The most charming vampire on screen, who has been dazzling the hearts of millions across the globe, has been the latest actor to join the ranks of the sexiest men. Robert Pattinson is declared the sexiest man in the world.

The 23 year old Twilight actor, Pattinson, has been the world’s biggest heartthrob ever since his film has hit the screen last year. After stunning a huge fan following for the last one year as the most invigorating vampire, Edward Cullen, the actor has been named as the sexiest man on the planet by Glamour magazine in Britain.

In a poll conducted by the magazine British women had cast the maximum number of vote for the young and handsome British actor. The other actors whose names were also included in the list were Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Hugh Jackman. There were about 2,000 women who voted for the well-known sex symbols, in which Rob topped and bagged the title.

Rob is slowly learning to handle his crazy female fans who sometimes end up acting bizarre. “Once there were four girls, in Chicago I think, and they had all scratched their necks until they bled. Then when they came up to me they had these bleeding scabs. It was gross”, said the actor himself.

When asked if anything has changed for the actor after winning the title, the humble and modest actor mentioned, “The hottest actor stuff doesn’t really mean anything. You have a month maybe with all this heat and hype”.

The Twilight’s most charming vampire, Robert Pattinson, was in Vancouver shooting for his upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon. The romantic hero will team up with the reckless impetuous Hugh Jackman to shoot fora 19-th century epic called Captives Unbound.

It has been a little more than two weeks when Mel Gibson’s wife filed for a divorce. Then, there were talks about the actor and his new girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. Tuesday night, the 53-year-old Hollywood actor made a rare public appearance with Oksana at the L.A. industry screening for ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’

Mel Gibson was wearing a black suit with a dark gray shirt. He and his 39-year-old singer girlfriend stepped out hand in hand as they walked the carpet before taking seat inside the screening at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. According to a source, the couple went in quietly and kept a low-key.

“Mel has been single for almost three years and it’s nice to see him getting out and enjoying himself,” said Gibson’s representative. The actor attended the screening on invitation of Fox Chairman James Gianopoulos and Wolverine producers Richard and Lauren Donner and fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman.

Wolverine shunned every hope of glitzy glam city of Los Angeles and premiered at the small city of Tempe, Arizona after the city won a competition.  There was a form on the film’s official website, which the fans were expected to fill up. Tempe is a desert suburb of Phoenix with a population under 200,000. The city won the competition after a maximum number of entries were filled up by the residents from the city.

“I love this place. I’m moving here“, declared lead actor Hugh Jackman roaring into the event’s venue on a bike. The rest of United States will now have to wait for  X- Men Origins: Wolverine till its release on May 1st. The film will be released in UK of April 29th.

Tempe, a small town in Arizona has beat big city finalists like  Las Vegas and Philadelphia and small town like Zelienople, Pennsylvania. There were 9 finalist who took part in the contest. Fans had been waiting outside the theater since 3 in the morning. Jackman praised the allegiance of ticket-holding who had to wait for hours to bag one and to catch a sight of Jackman.

“No one in LA is sleeping out overnight when they already had tickets to the best seat in the house“, Jackman said, overwhelmed with the dedication of his fans. Other stars of the film including Liev Schrieber, William and Lynn Collins also joined Jackman for the premiere of the film.

When Tempe had rejoiced the celebrity sighting and premiere of the film, Mexico will have to wait for the film’s release. The outbreak of swine flu in the country has resulted in a delay of the film’s release in the country.

Hugh Jackman sank his hand and foot prints into cement outside the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Tuesday to immortalized his name in Hollywood history. Jackman, who was titled as the “Sexiest Man Alive” by the People’s Magazine, stars in the upcoming “X-Men Origins: Wolverine“.

Located at Hollywood Boulevard, Grauman’s Chinese Theater is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the city. For the past 82 years several Hollywood legends like Cary Grant and Judy Garland have been feted by stamping their own signed hand and foot prints into the theater’s courtyard.

Jackman, who visited the Theater earlier with his wife, has been quoted as saying that this was the first  Hollywood landmark he visited in Los Angeles. Before sinking his hands in the cement Jackman put his hands into the prints of late comedian Peter Sellers.

Addressing to the crowd gathered at the ceremony Jackman said, “Here we are, 12 years later. It’s a very humbling moment as an actor to be here. You look down at the names, from Fred Astaire to Cary Grant, Clint Eastwood, Al Pacino, Steve McQueen, John Wayne, and to think that those people have been immortalized and pretty soon I’ll be putting my hands in wet cement”. And then the actor planted his palms into the cement.

Jackman’s upcoming film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” debuts in two weeks from now. The Australian actor plays the role of Wolverine, who fights other, evil mutants trying to control the world.

Hugh Jackman is not feeling good about the Online leakage of his upcoming film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. “It’s a serious crime and there’s no doubt it’s very disappointing – I was heartbroken by it“, said Hugh Jackman, who was chosen as the Sexiest Man Alive. “Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It’s like a Ferrari without a paint job“, added the actor.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is all set to hit the screens on May 1st stated 20th Century Fox. Presently  FBI and the Motion Picture Association of America are investigating the matter and trying to figure out about this leakage. The culprits will be prosecuted as soon as proven guilty. Jackman is very hopeful about FBI’s proceedings and said, “The FBI are onto it, and they’re taking it very, very seriously“.

The 40 year old actor is now busy promoting his film. After meeting about 600 fans in Sydney, Australia the actor said that the Web leak would not harm the box office earning of the film. Recently Jackman was made to apologize for an embarrassing error on his Twitter account done by his  online marketing team. The Australian actor has hired an online marketing team to manage his online blogging who mistakenly referred to Sydney’s Opera House as the ‘Opera Centre’. The actor in an interview apologized and said that he does not manage the profile himself and haven’t logged in for quite some time.

“I communicated it over the phone and when that got translated by someone American in my office it came out all wrong. I do know the Opera House is called the Opera House – I think I had my high school leaving assembly at the Opera House when I was 18 so I should know that one”, Jackman said.

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is yet to hit the screens and someone has already stolen an “incomplete and early version” of the next installment of the blockbuster. According to the studio that owns the billion-dollar film franchise not only has the film been stolen but it has also been posted on the Internet this week. This is a big blow for the film, which will be released in a month’s time. An early version of the film, starring Hugh Jackman, was posted on the net.

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is scheduled to release on May 1st in all over US. Twentieth Century Fox said the FBI is looking into this matter, which has become a grave issue. The digital file of the X-Men sequel circulated quickly across the Internet and was available for free downloading from numerous film download Web sites. This was completely illegal act stated the FBI.

“The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law; the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts in the past”, stated the studio. A reliable source from the industry said today that it would be next to impossible to remove all the links of this free movie download from the Internet. The source wanted to remain unnamed since legal proceedings are talking place. The film’s illegal version leaked on the website was removed from the site that first hosted it. But reports suggest that the film has already been downloaded over ten thousand times.

“It’s not removed from the Internet. It’s still there“, an industry source stated. Twentieth Century Fox has mentioned in a press meet that the version of the film that was being circulated on the web wasn’t the final version of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. “It was without many effects, had missing and unedited scenes and temporary sound and music”, they added.

Kent Lundblad, an Online movie critic, has said that the version published on the net is only the rough cut of the film. “Even in this rough form, it’s much better than the last ‘X-Men’ outing or anything Fox has given us in a long, long time”, he added. He also said that the final movie will look a lot different from the pirated version since there are many scenes that were re-shot.

This sudden leakage of the film month before its release may affect the box office earnings, which is a major concern of the makers of  “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” now.

Saturday (March 28) brought a nightful of music, slime, and screeming kids. It was the night of Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2009 which was being held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in Westwood, Calif.A press release revealed that more than 90 million votes were cast in 18 categories to determine the winners of the orange blimps (..awards!). Unlike the three-and-a-half hour of pompousity of the Academy Awards, the Kids’ Choice Awards was ninety minutes of sliming, awarding and unadulterated fun.

Host Dwayne Johnson in a red mini-dress, and Will Ferrel kept the audience totally entertained. Amidst all the screams and slime were Miley Cyrus (who got the award for Favorite Female Singer) and the Jonas Brothers (named the Favorite Music Group). Cyrus said “I know this isn’t, like, the Oscars, but it’s still amazing.” The trio (Joe, Kevin and Nick Jonas) performed their hits “SOS” and “Burnin’ Up” and got honorory slime. Many others were slimed during the fest. Sandra Bullock and Hugh Jackman got the green slime all over their face as they announced the winner for the Favorite Book (the Twilight series).

The Favorite Animated Movie was “Madagascar:Escape 2 Africa“. Jack Black got the award for the Best Animated Voice for “Kung Fu Panda“. Favorite Movie award went to “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” which beat “The Dark Knight“. Will Smith and Vanessa Hudgens received the Favorite Movie Star Kids Choice Awards for male and female respectively. Other winners included “American Idol” (Favorite Reality Show), Dylan Sprouse (Favorite Television Actor for “The Sweet Life of Zack and Cody“), Selena Gomez (Favorite Television Actress for “The Wizards of Waverly Place“), and Leonardo DiCaprio (who got the inaugural Big Green Help Award for his environmental activism). “Spongebob Squarepants” was the sixth time winner for Favorite Cartoon.
