It was recently revealed by the director of “American Psycho” in an interview that the inspiration for Christian Bale’s portrayal of the lead character is Tom Cruise. Bale played the role of Patrick Bateman, who is the protagonist of the film.

In a recent interview with the Black Book magazine, Mary Harron, who co-starred Bale in the movie, was quoted as saying how “Martian-like” Bateman was, “how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave”.

Harron also added, “And then one day [Bale] called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy”.

Bale was quoted as saying in a 2000 interview with Barnes&Noble.com, that he had complete faith on Bret Easton Ellis, the author of American Psycho, to have included agonizingly detailed violence in his book. This, the actor believed, was required to highlight the fact that Bateman’s “obsession with details” was the source of his insanity.

“That’s what I see about Bateman – his fixation on minutiae, and absolutely needing to get an answer for every little tiny thing, even though all the things he’s interested in are completely shallow,” Bale said.

David Letterman Appologises and Says: 'I'm terribly sorry'

David Letterman has finally apologized to staffers on Monday for his “stupid” sexual relationships with staffers. He has been quoted as saying, “I got my work cut out for me”, which must have helped him to fix the rift with his wife.

In a statement, during his Late Show, Letterman said, “I’m terribly sorry that I put the staff in that position. Inadvertently, I just wasn’t thinking ahead. And, moreover, the staff here has been wonderfully supportive to me, not just through this furor, but through all the years that we’ve been on television and especially all the years here at CBS, so, again, my thanks to the staff for, once again, putting up with something stupid I’ve gotten myself involved in”.

Letterman then addressed the scandal’s ill effect on Regina Lasko, his wife, who is a former staffer he married in March. Letterman and Lasko raise a son, Harry, born in 2003.

“She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it’s your responsibility, you try to fix it,” Letterman said. “And at that point, there’s only two things that can happen: Either you’re going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you’re going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed, so let me tell you, folks, I got my work cut out for me”, was what Letterman had to say.

David Letterman, the 61 year old late night talk show host, secretly tied knots with his 23 year old long time girlfriend. On the Monday night telecast of his show, Letterman was quoted as saying that he nearly missed the ceremony because his truck was stuck in mud. Letterman got wed to Regina Laskon in a courthouse in Choteau, Montana.

Letterman announced the good news in his show, “The Late Show with David Letterman” saying that “I avoided getting married for 23 years“.  Laskon is a former staff of the television talk show. The couple have a son, Harry who was also present in the wedding.

Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, ‘Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about 10 years‘”, Letterman joked while taking about his wedding to the press. He also added, “I secretly felt that men who were married admired me, like I was the last of the real gunslingers”.

Letterman is well known for his self belittling brand of humor. While on his way to the wedding venue, Letterman’s truck got badly stuck in the mud, which caused a delay. “So I get out of the truck and I walk two miles back to the house into a 50 mph wind. It’s not Beverly Hills, it’s  Montana, for God’s sakes. And the whole way, I’m thinking, See.? You try to get married, this is what happens”, he said with a laugh.
