Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson

Did you find anything unusually similar between “Twilight’s” Edward Cullen and bad boy James Dean? Yes, you are right, its the perfect hair, grizzling looks and outcast persona of the most handsome vampire on-screen. The look of the vampire in Twilight was much influenced from the “Rebel Without a Cause” said Robert Pattinson.

“‘Rebel Without a Cause’ was a big influence on the first ‘Twilight’ film — it influenced the hairdo and stuff. In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: An everyday girl brings this relatively strange individual out of his slump”, the actor said in an interview with USA Today.

Pattinson has an image, which is quite similar to James Dean. Right after his Twilight release Rob became the heartthrob of millions of women from all over the world. In a past interview the 23 year old actor was quoted as saying that he does not feel very comfortable handling all the attention and fame the character “Edward Cullen” brought to him.

“I’m not entirely sure what it is. I’ll probably realize afterward how I could have controlled it a little bit more. But I am still like a deer in headlights”, said Pattinson.

Rob also admitted the fact that a large section os his fans are ardent readers of the “Twilight” series of books. And they all could relate his so much with the bookish character that it became difficult for them to distinguish between the actor and Edward Cullen most of the time.

“Right at the beginning, everyone just called me Edward. I don’t really mind either way. There’s something about that character that, for some reason, has sparked an interest in massive degrees in so many different people”, Rob added.

The actor also said, “If you want to compete with your own character, you have to really fight. I don’t know if I could be bothered to fight. I just let it go by.”

The forthcoming sequel of the popular vampire series, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”, is all set to hit theatres on November 20.

Bale Inspired by Tom Cruise to Play ‘American Psycho’

by anamus on Oct.23, 2009, under Acts, acting, inspiration, movies, performances, roles

Christian Bale

Christian Bale

It was recently revealed by the director of “American Psycho” in an interview that the inspiration for Christian Bale’s portrayal of the lead character is Tom Cruise. Bale played the role of Patrick Bateman, who is the protagonist of the film.

In a recent interview with the Black Book magazine, Mary Harron, who co-starred Bale in the movie, was quoted as saying how “Martian-like” Bateman was, “how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave”.

Harron also added, “And then one day [Bale] called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy”.

Bale was quoted as saying in a 2000 interview with Barnes&Noble.com, that he had complete faith on Bret Easton Ellis, the author of American Psycho, to have included agonizingly detailed violence in his book. This, the actor believed, was required to highlight the fact that Bateman’s “obsession with details” was the source of his insanity.

“That’s what I see about Bateman – his fixation on minutiae, and absolutely needing to get an answer for every little tiny thing, even though all the things he’s interested in are completely shallow,” Bale said.

Twitter Flooded with Sharp Comments in Regard to President Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize Win

by anamus on Oct.09, 2009, under Bizarre, awards, celebrations, honour, inspiration, performances, social cause, spotlight

Barack Obama

Barack Obama

Barack Obama, the President of United States of America has been declared as the winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. Mr. Obama will be award the prestigious prize for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” by the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo.

Followed by the breaking news sharp reactions flowed in from people all over the globe using social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. Some supported the decision of the Nobel Prize committee, but most opposed and raised questions on the issue. There were comments, from people using the social networking sites, that said there were more deserving people than the President who joined office about 9 months back. Some even said that it was an early award for the President and that the prize will keep reminding him of his duty towards his nation as well as the world. Some even showed a little fear and warned the President of Kayne West, who, they feel, might land up at the ceremony just to declare that Beyonce deserved it more.

The Committee had its own explanation and said the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the President for his  vision of and work for “a world without nuclear weapons”. The Nobel committee also added that Mr. Obama’s leadership “dialogue and negotiations” can bring a change to the the world and can be used as resolving tool during “the most difficult international conflicts”.

A sum of $1.5 million will be handed over to President Obama as a Prize money on December 10.

Whether people like it or not I think it’s good that President Obama won the Noble peace prize. At least the microblogging sites come alive with millions of creative and witty comments.

Adam Lambert and Smokey Robinson

Adam Lambert and Smokey Robinson

Smokey Robinson was impressed; the audience, spellbound. A hushed silence followed as finalist Adam Lambert finished singing “Tracks of My Tears” at American Idol’s Motown week on Wednesday night. The silence was broken by a thundering applause from the audience as well as the judges.Smokey Robinson, who was the guest judge at the show, rose to his feet.

In a sleek silver suit and with his hair brushed back like Elvis, the 26-year-old Lambert from Los Angeles had his pitch and the notes all in place. In fact his vocal creativity was perfect, and his performance totally smooth. The deliverance touched the heart of all those who heard him sing. Criticism from the judges came only in the form of appreciation. Somkey Robinson, who had originally sung the song, stated that no one had ever produced such a soft and superb interpretation of the classic. When Lambert asked Robinson what had inspired him to write “Tracks of My Tears”, the latter replied “to do it justice”.

Judge Simon Cowell called it the best performance of the night and added that Lambert “tonight really have emerged as a star”. Paula, apart from appreciting Lambert’s performance, loved his classy look. Kara found it awesome and said that it was ‘true artistry’. Way to go Lambert!

Jade Goody screams out at her neighbour : “I’ll be dead in a month.”

by angana on Feb.28, 2009, under family, health, inspiration, life, marriages, sightings

Jade Goody

Jade Goody calmed by Jack Tweed

Jade Goody reportedly shouted at one of her neighbours while she was being taken to a hospice accompanied by her husband, Jack Tweed. Jade is seemingly very sad and depressed because she does not seem to like and bear her pain anymore.

Jade Goody was seen chewing on her ‘lollipop’ containing pain relievers as she was helped on to her Mercedes by hubby Jack Tweed to visit a hospice. In the midst of all this, Goody, suffering from terminal cancer, snapped at a male neighbour regarding a disagreement about a shared gate. Goody was in tears while shouting and literally screaming at her neighbour : “I’ll be dead in a month.”

Jade and Jack during the heated exchange before Goody leaves for Hospice

Jade and Jack during the heated exchange before Goody leaves for Hospice

Jade was seen outside after a long gap since she married Tweed on last Sunday. The wedding ceremony has reportedly made Jade very weak and exhausted. Jade is said to be in great agony. She screamed at the neighbour: “Chill out — I’m gonna be dead in a month.” Jack immediately came to her rescue and handed her her painkiller lolly. Then Jade was seen going back in tears and sat sobbing in the back of the silver Mercedes on her drive. Goody was helped out by two of her friends during the incident.

A witness revealed and explained the situation : “As Jade slowly made her way to the car she looked in a lot of pain. This man shouted something and she went mad and started screaming at him. He and Jade share a gate that he often has to go and close after people have left her house.”

Jade’s spokesman Max Clifford said: “She was in a very frail state. She’d had a terrible night on Thursday and was being taken to St Clare Hospice in Harlow to have her pain medication altered.”
Jade does not know how long she is here. None of her close friends and family are sure of the time she has to live. Mr Clifford said : “She knows it is just weeks. No one can say when exactly. She is being very brave.”
