Saturday Night Live Churn
The new season of Saturday Night Live will be starting this month on the 26th. This season, which is going to be the 35th, SNL will be having two new funny-bones – Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate. They are small time comic artists of New York. Jenny Slate has been in SNL for quite a few episodes.

So, what about the last 2 girls – Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson? Sources say they have been handed the pink slip. First flashed by Comic’s Comic, a website, news poured about the replacement of the 2 girls.

Watkins was an important member of the cast and her replacement came as a huge surprise to all. Especially Watkins herself. She expressed her “shock” and “sadness” over the sudden firing to Entertainment Weekly. Michaela has done only one season of SNL. She was doing a great job. Her impersonations of Arianna Huffington, Barbara Walters, Ann Coulter, Glenn Close, Joan Rivers and Hoda Kotb had been quite the apple of the show. Her being flabbergasted at this news is quite expected.

But this is not the whole story. The story further goes in a very interesting way. Lorne Michaels, the creator and producer of Saturday Night Live, suggested to Watkins that she was too good and she should “have her own show”. To this Watkins agrees to the idea. She says “Yes. I just want to make people laugh, and I want to do that the best way possible.”

Meanwhile, surprisingly, Casey Wilson has said nothing about her axe. Casey’s exit was apprehended because she was not drawn in the sketches as the other regular members of the cast were drawn.

With such a churn in the SNL line-up, what do you think is the fate of the other cast members? What about the oldest member … Darrell Hammond? The Examiner reports that he is still in discussions with the channel and the show producers. It will then be a few more weeks before we find out which way the show is going to take. The premiere will have Megan Fox as the star host.
