Hopefully I’m the people’s point of view because I’m just like you. I sit at home and I watch it and I don’t have that technical . . . I’m not looking at it in a critical way from the producer’s mind. I’m looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person”, said DeGeneres while her show was aired.
Before Fox Entertainment finally signed DeGeneres to fill-up the fourth judge’s position for American Idol, the network has considered several other high profile celebrities for the same like: Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, singers Mary J. As with many others – I’ve been an American Idol fan – all 8 Seasons.
I will surely miss Paul Abdul on American Idol.
I never would have thought – in a million years – of Ellen being a judge on AI – but – I believe this will work. I look forward to seeing the new season!
It will be a nice twist bringing some comedy to the Idol. I think – especially during the try outs – Ellen will be poised & cool but – also a hoot! I say , get ready for some laughter this season on AI. Enjoy, AI fans!!

Ellen may have been judged her whole life…I get it! All I can say to that is SO what?? Everyone is judged for one reason or another…colour of skin, hair colour, eye colour, shape, size, handicap…you name it!! In Ellen’s case it’s because she’s gay. Spare me Ellen! Don’t dare lean on that one to justify your qualifications to participate on American Idol…shame on you!!Being judged because you’re gay doesn’t qualify you to judge a ‘talent’ show. Perhaps you’re better qualified to judge comedy talent…that I can certainly understand. What can you possibly know about singing?? Dancing?? Choreography?? I’ve heard you try and sing, I’ve heard you try and play the piano, and you’re dancing…well, same moves all the time everytime!
Other than a few wise cracks and funny lines …that’s all you’ll be able to truly contribute.
With all the magnificant talent in America…Ellen should have been the last on the list!
