The 61 year old Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler fell from the concert stage at South Dakota’s celebrated Sturgis Motorcycle Rally while performing. Fans waving and swaying at his tunes could have warned him from walking further ahead and that could have saved the music legend from the accident.
Tyler was immediately rushed to the hospital in his private flight. He was treated for minor head, neck and shoulders injuries at the hospital on Thursday.
Lance Yellow Robe mentioned, “You could kind of see it coming because he was dancing all over the stage”. Robe was just about eight feet away from the stage, who witnesses Tyler toppling shortly after midnight.
The spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground that was the host to concert, Mike Sanborn, said Tyler was dancing with a lot of energy around on stage to keep the crowd swaying after the sound system failed during a performance of “Love In an Elevator”. “He put his [mic] stand down and twirled around and stepped backwards off the stage”, marked Sanborn.
Securities and show organizers immediately rushed to the singer for help. Thousands who gathered for the show cheered in full volume as they saw Tyler got back up. The Aerosmith lead man was then taken back stage. After a while Joe Perry, the guitarist of the band, returned to the stage to announce that Tyler was flown to the hospital.
Sanborn also said that Tyler was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital, which is the only major hospital around, where he was found, “talking and joking with the physician”.
