Holly Madison, Steve Wozniak in Dancing with the Stars

During what was a special broadcast of the ABC hit Dancing with the Stars last night, two couples got eliminated. The double-elimination show ruled out “The Girl Next Door” star Holly Madison and her partner Dmitry Chaplin. Along with them went Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak and his partner Karina Smirnoff. Yesterday’s (March 31) elimination was based on the judges’ scores from Monday night’s episode as well as the viewer votes that were cast soon after the show.

Madison and Chaplin’s Argentine tango on Monday night earned them 16 out of 30 points from the judges. The starlette is beautiful, but she needed strong moves in her dance. Tonioli had told Madison after her Monday night performance “[It was] a bad start and it kept getting worse. It happens… once you start badly your confidence goes and you can never quite catch up… there’s a lot of work to do.” Inaba and Goodman were kinder. “You know you fell off the stool in the beginning and I know that’s so difficult but you did hang in there and I give you a lot of credit because that is very difficult to do. I can see that you’re in pain… but like I’ve said — I’ve said it over and over again –  I don’t feel like you’re building strength,” Inaba had said.

Last night, after host Tom Bergeron announced her elimination, Madison stated “It was a lot physically harder than I than I thought it was going to be but it was so much fun and I’m so glad I got a chance.” She added  “And I still love the costumes, it’s still my favorite part!“

Wozniak and Smirnoff had also presented an Argentine tango on Monday night. But, the judges had criticised Wozniak’s dancing and the couple got a score of only 12 out of 30. Inaba had said after watching Wozniak on Monday’s show “Steve, I love what you represent… and I don’t mean to be cruel, but there just wasn’t much going on…I’m sorry, I’m trying to find something positive to say and I’m still searching… [but] I still think you’re adorable.” This is what Tonioli had to say :”Steve, first let me say that we love you,” Tonioli had told Wozniak after the performance.  “We all know the tango originated in the gutters of Buenos Aires.  But the only right thing you picked out from them [was] the stench because this really stuck.”

Yesterday’s dance had pushed Wozniak’s last week’s score of 10 to a mere 12. He mentioned later “I gave it a good try. I do have to say I saw [Holly and Dmitry] dance yesterday in the dress rehearsal — not on the air — and it actually made me cry.  They were so much together and in step and you know, I just have to say that…This is a great show — it’s a great process, a great system, great voting system even — and the right thing happens.”

Holly Madison, and Dmitry Chaplin, and Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff were the third and fourth couples to be eliminated from the show’s eighth season. Apart from throwing the two couples off the stage, last night’s Dancing with the Stars results have also placed Jackass star Stephen “Steve-O” Glover and partner Lacey Schwimmer at the bottom of the bottom three couples. Next week, there will be much heat and sweat as the remaining 9 couples will dance for their lives.
