Now that the long wait is over, ¨Project Runaway¨ is all ready for its new season. The popular fashion reality show that has been aired by NBC Universal´s Bravo cable network since its inception, will be returning to TV on August 20 with its sixth season. But the show broadcast will be by Lifetime Television.
The sixth season of ¨Project Runaway¨ will start after a nine-month delay caused by a long-running legal battle. Settlement of the lawsuit by NBC Universal was made when show producers The Weinstein Co. agreed to pay NBC an unclosed sum for moving the show from Bravo to Lifetime. “It did arrive fashionably late, but for us happily the wait is over,” says Lifetime CEO Andrea Wong.
Hosted by supermodel Heidi klum and Tim Gunn, ¨Project Runaway¨ will have a new location in its sixth season- Los Angeles. It is the show´s first season to have been shot mostly in L.A. Tim Gunn is nervous and says “I was dubious about doing this. We’ve been in New York for five years, and New York is the fashion capital.” But, the location shift is mainly for Heidi Klum who is pregnant with her fourth child. Besides, shooting ¨Project Runaway¨ sixth season in L.A provided “an entirely new backdrop, a point of departure for challenges and a whole new source of inspiration.¨
The show´s fifth season ended in October 2008. A most-watch reality show, ¨Project Runaway¨ is about 16 fashion designers who face challenges on their way to the launch of their own clothing line. In its sixth season the show, for the first time, will have a companion series, ¨Models of the Runaway.¨ That will showcase a behind-the-scenes look of ¨Project Runaway¨ where the models will express their own opinions.
