Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks

We have seen Julia Roberts, the Oscar winning actress laugh infectiously. And now we have, erm, seen her spill some colorful languages. On Monday night, at the occasion of the 36th annual Film Society of Lincoln Center Gala Tribute, the Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks was awarded the new  Chaplin Award. Roberts was called to present the award, who certainly kept her tribute brief yet storming.

Roberts began with addressing towards Hanks as “everyone likes you“. And you should have been there to witness the roaring laughter of the crowds. While the Pretty Woman was addressing about the  2004 movie of Hanks, “The Terminal“, where Hanks played the role of an Eastern European trapped in Immigration at J.F.K., Roberts said, “That movie about you and the airport and the accent was a pass for me. Airport? Were you just an immigrant lost? I didn’t know. I love you, but I didn’t know … and I’m wearing the same [expletive] dress tonight as your publicist“.

Hanks also didn’t leave the chance of slamming Roberts. When it was his turn on the podium, Hanks said, “Julia Roberts wears same dress as publicist“, as both the actress and his publicist were wearing a cream dress by Dolce & Gabbana.

The actress used the ‘f’ word quite a few number of times in her speech as she began with “All right, well, it’s late, and I’m paying my babysitter overtime, and I have to pee. So Tom, everybody f–king likes you. All my bits are gone“.

Instead of highlighting the more successful cinematic career of the actor, Roberts pointed out a few of his forgettable features. “I love the Coen brothers, but the hair, Tom, I didn’t even know what the f–k that movie was about“, she said.

To wrap up her speech she said, “Listen, I’ve got to get home…I will say this: Tom Hanks, I love you”. Hanks while receiving the award added, Roberts “has the biggest potty mouth you have ever heard“.

Charlize Theron, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Spielberg and Sally Field were among the guests.

Pink

After Britney Spears, now it’s Pink with a circus themed show. And the pop singer regrets staging the show for her ongoing world tour “Funhouse.” She is being constantly compared to Britney, who launched her “Circus” tour in US early this March.

Pop singer Pink is taking her world tour to the United States this summer. But, she has come under the eye of critics who are accusing her of copying Britney’s “Circus” tour. Both Britney and Pink’s tours are based on the title of their latest albums. Both the singers have dancers in colorful costumes, acrobats, and wild acts in their stage shows.

Pink, however, denies copying Britney. Her album released last year just weeks before Britney’s album release, and she is emphatic that she was oblivious to the trend. “Had I known that certain other people were going to base their latest thing about circus things, I probably would have went into another direction. I was six months before that and didn’t really understand that it was a trend that was happening. I’m pretty out of the loop,” said Pink.

So there is another ‘circus’ coming your way!

Amy Winehouse

According to latest reports, the Rehab singer, Amy Winehouse, wants to settle in St Lucia. She wants to call the Caribbean her new home after having spend much time in the sunny shores of the picturesque island.

The singer, whose life has been close to a roller coaster ride, has reportedly spent  a 71 day Christmas holiday simply taking rest with no work in the Caribbean. Winehouse has to return to United Kingdom for a short time to settle the final deal of a  nasty divorce from her husband Blake Fielder-Civil. But the singer was more keen to get back to  St Lucia again and  swapped London for the island for yet another prolonged vacation.

“Amy is fed up with all the stress and trauma that comes with being in London. She has made so many friends in St Lucia and says it feels like home. When she returned to the UK in March she felt like a total outsider”, a source close to Winehouse said to The Sun.

in every probability it seems that the singer intends to live a peaceful life away from the limelight in a lavish new home situated on the beautiful Caribbean shores.

The source  also added, “She has her heart set on one house in particular. It is massive, right on the beach and has its own big garden, too”.

Kylie Minogue

The global economic recession has not spared the rich. Yet, they are rich. Pop queen Kylie Minogue, has landed a place in the UK rich list despite having lost money in the economic crisis.

According to the list compiled by The Sunday Times, the 40-year-old singer has made it to the 46th spot among the Top wealthiest music with her personal fortune of over $70 million. Minogue’s wealth, however, has come down from last year when her fortune was estimated to be worth $83.5 million. That puts her in league with Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and Mick Jagger whose earnings dropped by 10% last year due to the global meltdown.

The UK rich list shows that Minogue was worth $71.25 million which equals that of Ronnie Wood, Mick Hucknell and Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay. South African-born record executive 62-yer-old Clive Calder tops the UK rich list with a personal fortune of $2.6 billion. Economic crisis or not, Kylie can now celebrate because she remains one of world’s richest female singers.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

The hottest couple of Hollywood, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, are  are ceasing to bewilder the local residents of Long Island, which has become a temporary home for the couple. Their down to earth charm has simply left all enthralled.

The Oscar nominated actors, Jolie and Pitt, have been residing in the island for quite sometime. The couple have also taken up a beautiful house in a tranquil corner of Oyster Bay and is said to have been creating a niche of star struck Long Islanders wherever they go.

John Venditto, the Oyster Bay Town Supervisor, was quoted saying in an interview to the People Magazine, “When you talk to someone who has met them they’re kind of glowing“. He also added, “People love saying they saw them. They feel something very special happened to them“.

On of the local resident who met the couple in a local grocery shop couldn’t hold the excitement of meeting the star couple. The shock and happiness of meeting the stars with their kids have been circulating throughout the island. Jolie and Pitt and their kids all have been very friendly to the local residents say those who met them.

John further said, “The reaction across the board seems to be, ‘Wow, they’re very nice people.’ It seems that people like them and like having them here“.

'The Hills' girls

“The Hills” is to continue without original star Lauren Conrad. MTV has decided to extend its hit series by adding extra episodes, even if it is without the 23-year-old designer building a new story line around newlyweds (and Conrad antagonists) Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. That said, it has been confirmed that Audrina Patridge and the rest of “The Hills” cast will be back this fall with additional episodes of its current season.

“MTV viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before as ‘The Hills’ returns this fall with more episodes of Season 5,” MTV said. Though the network has not yet given a green signal to another season of “The Hills,” it has announced that the new episodes will have fresh faces along with the series’ regulars Audrina Patridge,  Heidi Montag,  Spencer Pratt,  Stephanie Pratt,  Lo Bosworth, Justin Bobby and Brody Jenne.

In their statement, MTV said “Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work. Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before.”

The absence of Conrad in “The Hills” return this fall will definitely be felt, but the rest of the cast are not too worried about the success of the show without her. The question is how much of its fame will “The Hills” after losing its original actress.

This organization is a youth-focused charity that aims to spread the halt of the disease thanks to early detection and an active lifestyle.

Michael Douglas

The Hollywood actor, Michael Douglas will bring back his role of Gordon Gekko, who is a  remorseless corporate ransacker in a sequel to the hit movie Wall Street. The news has been recently flashed by the 20th Century Fox.

Oliver Stone, the director of the first movie, has agreed to direct the sequel. Talks are still on to decide upon the release date of the film. The scripting is still going on and is expected to vastly cover the  credit crisis and economic recession of the world.

The 1987 film, Wall Street, starred Michael Douglas along with reputed actors like Martin and Charlie Sheen. Douglas had also won a best actor award in Oscar for his role in the film. Quotes delivered by the actor like “Greed, for lack of a better word, is good,” and “Lunch? Are you joking? Lunch is for wimps“, became very popular in the film.

In the upcoming sequel of Wall Street Douglas will play the role of Gekko, who is a very powerful and influential investor schooling a young person in making money by dirty and unlawful means. The filming of Wall Street may begin this summer if everything goes according to plan.

The 68 year old actor, Michael Douglas, is awaiting his upcoming romantic comedy film, Ghosts Of, release in UK this weekend. In the film the actor will star opposite to Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner.

Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge

Jamie Lynn Spears‘ boyfriend, who was injured in a car crash Sunday, is facing trouble with the police. He has been charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle, which is a misdemeanour offence.

Casey Aldridge, father of Jamie Lynn’s 10-month-old daughter, was driving with four friends through rural Tensas Parish, La., Sunday when he lost control of his Ford pickup. Aldridge’s uncle, Rev. Odus Jackson said “I think he cut off the edge of the road, corrected and it flipped.” Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be the reason behind the accident. Nevertheless, Aldridge has been charged on the basis of careless driving. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

Despite his other three friends not wearing seatbelts, Aldridge was the only occupant in the truck who needed immediate medical attention. He suffered a fractured skull, and was rushed to Riverland Medical Center. Later, he was shifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.The 19-year-old has been moved out of the ICU, and “is doing good.” Meanwhile, Jamie Lynn Spears, 18, has been by the side of her baby’s father all through.

Channing Tatum

Twilight’s sexy vampire Robert Pattinson is to face serious competition. His competitor: “Figting” man with killer physique Channing Tatum. Yes. The former model, who had worked for clients such as Armani and Abercrombie & Fitch, is being seriously considered by “Twilight” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg who says that she “desperately” wants Tatum for the part of vampire “Rile” in the third Twilight movie “Eclipse.”

Pattinson, with his iconic good looks, has become one of Hollywood’s hottest rising stars after he landed the role of vampire Edward Cullen in the mega hit “Twilight.” He has become a heartthrob of millions worldwide, and being the competitor of this young Brit will not be easy. However, like Rob, 29-year old Tatum too has his career rocketing with the lead role in “Fighting,” “Dear John,” and this summer’s big-budget movie “G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra.” Besides, he plays Pretty Boy Floyd in Johnny Depp’s 1930s gangster drama “Public Enemies.”

Tatum’s acting experiences till date make him a good fit for the role of the nasty vampire in “Eclipse.” Rosenberg said “There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,”  adding “And there are some complexities to that character. He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”

If Tatum accepts the role of Rile, he will be joining Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Michael Sheen, Peter Facinelli, and Dakota Fanning who make up the core cast of the Twilight saga.

Though possible on screen rivals, Tatum and Rob share a few common traits. They are both quiet, introspective and unassuming. And both are basking in stardom. But “Eclipse” may pit these two against each other in a screen fight both dramatic and dangerous.
