Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, who earned the title in Season 2 of the Fox TV reality series, was back on stage Thursday night in a tuxedo type outfit. The audience welcomed him once again as he sang his new solo, the romantic and beautiful “Together” from his forthcoming album “Love Is”. His charismatic voice touched the listeners once again as he returned to the place from where he had emerged a star.

While rehearsing on Wednesday, Studdard appreciated the new ‘Idol’ stage. He told MTV News that it was much “bigger and flashier” than it was when he performed in American Idol six years back. Apart from the stage, Studdard was surprised by the wardrobe presented to the contestants. He said “These kids now get to wear designer clothes every week!”;”We didn’t get to wear Dolce & Gabbana, that’s for sure”.

Studdard has been touring with the production team of the musical ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ and working on his fourth album “Love Is” which is to release in May this year. The three albums which he released since winning the American Idol title are “Soulful”, “I Need an Angel” and “The Return”. He has been nominated, along with Mary Mary and Deitrick Haddon, for a Dove Award for their popular gospel song “Love Him Like I Do”.

Thursday night also had Smokey Robinson singing a duet with Joss Stone and a power-packed performance from Stevie Wonder who pleased the audience with a medley of Motown hits.
