Kate Winslet insists that she leads a very humble family life. In a recent revelation Kate said how she and her husband, Sam Mendes raised their family like any other ‘ordinary’ family. Kate said she and her husband Sam Mendes are “normal”.
The Golden Globe winner and Oscar-nominated actress insists she, her director spouse Sam, and the two children they raise together – Mia, eight and Joe, five – are just an ordinary family.
She said: “We do normal things that any other family would. It’s important to us that the children are just regular kids, so we go to the park, kick a ball around, go to a museum, watch a movie together or just hang out at home playing Monopoly.”
Sam and Kate split their time between the US and the UK. The couple recently worked together for the first time on ‘Revolutionary Road’ which 43-year-old Sam directed. Sam Mendes directed his favourite pair of Leonardo and Kate on a very unnerving film which is winning its well deserved accolades.
Kate said: “I had looked forward to working with Sam at some point in my life, and it had reached the point where wonderful actors like Tom Hanks would tell me he is so great and I would tell them to shut up, because I was starting to get a bit jealous.”
It has been a successful start for the 33-year-old actress after she won two Golden Globe awards for Best Dramatic Actress in ‘Revolutionary Road’ and Best Supporting Actress in ‘The Reader’.
Kate has also received two BAFTA nominations in the Best Actress category for ‘Revolutionary Road’ and ‘The Reader’, and for the much coveted, Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her role in ‘The Reader’. Kate had always had this feeling of discontent for not being in the frontline in Award ceremonies/nominations and winning. But her back to back race for the awards have made her ecsatic like never before. Kate has matured as an actress and she deserves to receive her much coveted Oscar.
