Led Zepplin is planning to record a new album. The estranged band members split in 1980 after the death of drummer John Bonham. Led Zepplin also plans for a tour that would feature a new singer this year. Robert Plant the lead singer of the band does not want to join his former band mates for a band revival. So an alternative is being fixed by Peter Mensch, guitarist Jimmy Page’s manager. Peter Mensch has confirmed that Led Zepplin are planning to reunite without singer Robert Plant, who has repeatedly insisted he no longer wants to play with the group.
Peter has revealed that the band members are keen to play together once again. the band now would include bassists John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham and Jimmy Page. Peter said: “They did the show at London’s O2 Arena in 2007 with Robert Plant - they had a really good time rehearsing, the three of them, before Robert showed up. And they decided that if they could find a singer that they thought would fit their bill - whatever their bill was at this stage in their career - that they’d make a record and go on tour…”
Peter felt that they enjoyed staying, rehearsing and playing together like old times. He added: “John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page enjoy playing with each other, Jason Bonham is a really good drummer so why not? We just need to find a singer.”
There has been speculations which suggested that the present Led Zepp frontman could be Steven Tyler or Chris Cornell in order to replace Robert. In spite of several requests to reveal the name of the singer Peter kept mum and refused to say who the group had in mind as a new frontman. He added: “It’s going to be a long and difficult process. And we’re not soliciting people. So don’t call me about it.”
Led Zepplin is regarded as rock legend. The group was the biggest of the 70s. They had formed in 1968. Their worldwide album sales were more than 300 million.
