Kate Winslet is spending the best time in her career. Kate not only won two Golden Globes for her work in ‘The Reader’ and ‘Revolutionary Road’ but also got an Oscar nomination in the Best Actress category.
Kate had complained in the past that she had spent most of her career without a single Oscar. And now the British actress stands at the right juncture of her film career.
Kate Winslet has revealed how ‘thrilled’ she was to once again be nominated for Best Actress for her role in Holocaust drama ‘The Reader’. Leonardo Caprio had recently told in an interview that Kate definitely deserved atleast one Academy if not more.
Despite the film causing some controversy upon release it has gone on to feature heavily during the award season with Winslet collecting two Golden Globes for her roles in The Reader and Revolutionary Road last week.
She told the Press Association: “”I’m extremely happy to have been nominated,” she said. “And very fortunate. Playing Hanna Schmitz will always remain one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever been blessed with. I’m genuinely thrilled not just for myself but for the wonderful Stephen Daldry [director] and David Hare [writer]. These nominations are a testament to their unwavering commitment to this film.”
Kate is running along with other super actresses in the run for the Academy. She will face tough competition from Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Melissa Leo and Meryl Streep, who earned her fifteenth nomination.
It came as a surprise that it was ‘The Reader’ role that was nominated for Best Actress, scooping Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes, with her role in ‘Revolutionary Road’ being totally overlooked.
