The martial arts master actor from Hong Kong, Jackie Chan is in talks with Columbia for the role as mentor Mr. Miyagi of Karate Kid. Jaden Smith (actor son of Will Smith) will play the role of Miyagi’s(Chan’s)pupil in the remake of the film.

The story would be much similar to that of the 1984 original. The original Mr.Miyagi’s role was portrayed and made super famous by Pat Morita.

Columbia has finalised mostly everything. Besides roping in the actors the crucial part has also been done. The studio has brought in Harald Zwart (”Agent Cody Banks”) to direct the picture, which possibly will begin shooting this year in Beijing. The story line would more or remain the same where the boy would find shelter in a martial arts expert.

Like the original here the film would circle around the relationship that takes shape between a martial arts expert and a boy who is picked on by bullies.
