Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely Shaye-Smith were awarded an Honor for their extreme work and support for a youth charity.
The former James Bond 55, and Shaye-Smith, 45, were presented with the Responsible Activism in Media and Entertainment award at the second annual Jane Goodall Institute Global Leadership Awards Celebration in Washington, D.C., on Friday night.
The couple has been strongly involved and supported the institute’s veritable cause, Roots & Shoots global environmental youth program since its very origin in the 1990s.
The former 007 star told the fundraiser’s audience, “Keely and I are honored to be in Washington, D.C., at such an exciting time in this nation’s history and to accept this award from our dear friend Dr. Jane Goodall.”
The actor admitted that if it was not for his wife he would not have been so inspired to work fot the honourable cause. He got involved all because of his wife’s hard work and influence which was strong enough to get him going all up for the cause.
He adds, “I have a wonderful wife in Keely, who is very versed in the world of green. This is a partnership now of 16 years and she has educated me on the environment and how to bring up children, whether it’s the food they eat or the food that we grow at home in Hawaii – clean water, good vegetables, recycling.”
Brosnan has two young sons with Shaye – Dylan, 11, and Paris, seven and three grown children from his previous marriage.
