Riots dampen John Travolta’s new film

The “Saturday Night Fever” star was all set to upheld the cause of French Ghettos and political turmoil surrounding the ghettos. His filming required shooting in ‘Les Bosquets’ a high-rise estate in the north of the French capital. But all hell broke loose before filming could actually begin. The residents were offered jobs as extras and support staff. Violence broke out among workers who destroyed cars burning down 10 of them stalled for the shoot. The cars were to feature in the film.
Besides the cars being burnt, the movie crew was threatened which sealed the film’s destiny and presently there seems to be no light for the film to be released or relocated or even restructured on the basis of newer objectives or different script.
A spokesman for the movie said: “There’s now no possibility of Mr. Travolta or any of the other stars of the film operating in such a dangerous area…”
The spokesman has spoken of the other alternatives that are being thought in order to re-schedule shoot. “…The scenes we were meant to do here will now be shot elsewhere.” John has reportedly fled the scene anticipating further violence. The movie was targeted at the working classes. If the film was allowed a better platform sans all such riots and violence among crew and staff then it could have been a huge hit amongst France’s lower classes as the targeted audience wasa quite obviously French lower class. Such was the deep rooted crisis, that filming was not allowed outside Les Bosquets. On top of that there were several conditions applied which included locals to be employed as workers and meals for the crew were to be strictly made by local companies. A tyrannical imposition on such a film sounds sad enough in the modern backdrop. The icing on the cake of gloom seems Travolta’s backing out.
